A Chair dedicated to livestock farming

The ‘Livestock Futures’ Chair, Cycle II, supported by the Fondation de l’Institut Agro, is a Chair that enables the development and strengthening of all training, research, international and innovation activities. After a first cycle, this Chair is expanding its partners to continue the work carried out in cycle I and explore new forward-looking topics for the livestock sectors.

The work carried out by the Chair should address 4 priority issues for the animal production industry:

– Health for all (humans and animals, as well as the planet as a whole): how to produce and promote healthy, high-quality food for all, within the general framework of the ‘One Health, One Planet’ concept;

– Long-term viability: how to support players in the livestock sector so that they have sufficient investment capacity, succeed in handing down their businesses and become part of the economic and social landscape of livestock farming.

– Sustainability: how to strike a balance between human health, animal health and respect for the environment;

– Attractiveness of the livestock farming profession: how to attract talent at all levels by offering excellent training and professional development for all.

The objectives of the Chair

This Chair is a forum for the exchange and co-construction of new knowledge and skills in the field of livestock farming, to better support the transformation process and the technical, economic and social changes to come.

Its objectives are to

– Bring education and the world of livestock farming closer together;

– Support training, research and innovation projects;

– Support educational excellence through professional integration;

– Encourage reflection and initiatives on tomorrow’s model livestock farming;

– Promote progressive approaches and the best breeding methods;

– Encourage students to be open to national and international mobility.

THE ROULLIER ENDOWMENT FUND, PARTNER OF THE CHAIR

The mission of the Fonds de Dotation Roullier is to study, promote and raise awareness of sustainable agriculture in France and around the world. The Fund contributes to its mission by supporting research, knowledge and the dissemination of knowledge on sustainable agriculture, by supporting the training of young people, by collaborating with educational establishments linked to the world of agriculture, by organising seminars and conferences, and by reflecting on the outlook by organising and participating in awards and prizes.

FDR wanted to get involved with the Chaire Futurs d’Elevage (Livestock Futures Chair) in order to take part in discussions on the future of livestock farming in France and the sustainability issues facing the players in these sectors. This is why FDR wanted to participate jointly in the creation of the second cycle of the Chaire Futur d’Élevage, whose mission is to implement research, training and innovation activities.
