Participation of the Roullier Endowment Fund in the AFMA symposium: ‘Agricultural heritage and museums: what future and what missions ?
On 30 November 2023, the Roullier Endowment Fund will be taking part, alongside the Association Française des Musées de l’Agriculture (AFMA), COMPA, and Mucem, in meetings on the theme of ‘Agricultural heritage and museums: what future and what missions?’.
About AFMA
Founded under the dual patronage of the Ministries of Agriculture and Culture, AFMA is committed to the study, preservation and promotion of rural heritage in all its forms:
- Movable heritage: old tools, farm machinery, everyday objects.
- Immovable heritage: rural architecture.
- Know-how: ancestral trades and techniques.
- Landscape heritage: landscapes shaped by agriculture.
The association takes a broad view of agriculture, encompassing specialised production such as livestock farming and agricultural and industrial crops.
A presentation by the Minerallium
This presentation by the Minerallium looked at how cultural and educational spaces can contribute to the development and modernisation of the agricultural sector. The Minerallium also raises the question of the role of private-sector educational facilities in representing the world of agriculture.
An event rich in exchanges and discoveries
The conference, designed to be as close as possible to the players and museums involved, brought together :
- Managers of agricultural collections (private, public, associative or local).
- Associations involved in safeguarding agricultural heritage.
- Curators, collectors, students and members of AFMA and FEMS.
- Experts in the history of agricultural techniques and the rural world.
For two days, participants attended presentations, exchanges of experience, round tables with experts, and guided tours of the COMPA and its reserves.
